Tips to Overcome The Sunday Night Blues

Image
This is one of those things where I thought I was the only person in the world to feel this way. Well, not really the only person but I didn't realise that a huge percentage of the developed world feels the same. In fact, in the U.S. a study found that 81% of people, adults and children get the Sunday night blues. They also found that for most people it starts around 4pm. I have a few little tips that definitely help to cheer me up and stop me moping around wasting time every  Sunday night. Through the day a good blend to diffuse is: 5 drops Bergamot 2 drops Roman Chamomile 2 drops Ylang Ylang Bergamot gives hope and helps us see life with more optimism. Roman Chamomile is calming and helps us feel fulfilled. Ylang Ylang brings joy and acceptance. Make Sunday your fun day. Do things that you and your family enjoy doing. Go outside in the fresh air and get a little bit of sun (apply your natural sunscreen first). This will help you f...

Essential Oils and Plastic

Image
I always advise people to use glass when putting essential oils in their water or storing them. Even diluted essential oils will eat away at plastic in some cases. Essential oils will break down most plastics. Some people will argue “if it does that to plastic, then imagine what it’s doing to us!” But we aren't made of plastic! The chemical reaction when we use essential oils in or on our bodies is not the same as when we combine it with a plastic. Essential oils are highly concentrated substances extracted from trees and plants. They are the lifeblood and immune systems of plants. Essential oils have structures similar to our hormones. Essential oils are carbon-based, like our bodies. So our bodies know how to use them. They work with our bodies to break down toxins and remove them from our bodies. Plastic is made up of toxic chemicals. So essential oils will naturally break it down. Citrus oils, in particular, have a chemical make-up that is known to interfe...

MY ALLERGIES AND HOW TO HAVE A CHEMICAL-FREE HOME - Free downloadable Food & Lifestyle Journal.

Before I had my kids I never really thought about allergies or toxins. As long as I stayed away from Bactrim antibiotics, due to my reaction to sulfa, I didn't have to worry about them. That was until I started working again after my boys were all in school. Over the course of a few years, I developed more and more allergies and intolerances to so many things. All of a sudden I couldn't touch my cats and dogs without breaking out in hives, sneezing and having itchy eyes. I also noticed when I was working in my garden that certain plants would make me sneeze and itch. I became overloaded with toxic build up and my immune system suffered. I was struggling with so many different allergies. I had to keep a food journal because things that I had eaten all my life started making my stomach bloat and I felt nauseous after almost every meal. I came to realise that I could no longer eat gluten or dairy. I discovered that dairy was causing stomach upsets and contributed to the h...
